About IREF
IREF was founded in 2016 with a mission to educate young referees beginning at the recreational soccer level — providing a structured, low-stakes environment built for learning.
Referees at this level build confidence, develop sound judgment, and gain real experience before advancing into competitive club soccer matches. We believe great officiating starts with great training — and great training starts on day one.
From classroom instruction to on-field clinics led by experienced instructors, IREF prepares young referees with the tools they need to succeed — and the confidence to use them.

Our course addresses the real challenges referees face — managing players, parents, and coaches — and gives participants practical tools to stay in control of any situation.
Laws of the Game
Player equipment, referee and assistant referee functions, offside rules, fouls, and misconduct — including recreational-specific rules that vary by hosting club.
Mental Ninja
Master the Secret Sauce of becoming a Mental Ninja. Pre-match protocols, first impressions, referee positioning, communication, and setting the tone from the opening whistle.
You Make the Call
Review real game footage and apply your skills to live referee decisions — putting knowledge into action before ever stepping on the field.
